Motorola Razr V3 Is Sharp, But Does It cut It?

When you first see this phone you know that it is expensive. It has all the bells and whistles included in it and fits it all into a sleek aluminum frame that makes this thing look like it costs a fortune. It may not quite cost that much, but at $400 it does cost a lot, but for good reason. For those of us that need a phone that can keep up to our demands the Motorola Razr V3 is worth every penny.

Design
The Razr is not as small as you would expect it to be. It is actually quite wide, but it is made up by how thin it is. When the phone is folded shut, the camera lens can be seen as well as an external LCD screen that shows the battery life, time, and the caller. On the outside of the device there is a control for the voice recorder, volume, and the camera. Flipping up the phone will reveal a brilliant 2.5 in. LCD screen as well as buttons that are almost flat against the surface of the phone. All of the buttons you expect are there, as well as menu and navigation buttons. The overall design of the Razr seems to be pretty simple even though the phone itself is not.

Using the Phone
Motorola rates the talk time at around 7 hours, which is pretty good if you need it. It is also supposed to last 12 days on standby. The sound quality on calls is pretty good and is clear so you won’t miss anything. The speakerphone is also decent on sound quality, but the volume may not go up enough for your needs. It sometimes can feel a bit quiet for my tastes. The camera performs very well and offers three different resolutions of photos. The pictures come out decent for a cell phone camera, but are still not as high of quality as I would have liked for the price. The 6MB of memory is my biggest complaint because it makes it limits the amount of pictures you can take or mp3’s you can listen to. Expandable memory would have been a nice feature to add, but probably will not be necessary for most users. The phone functions well and will not disappoint in this area unless you desire more memory.

Conclusion
This phone is definitely worth the high price tag if you can afford it even though there are still some things that Cingular needs to improve on. This phone can be used by the high-tech college student or the business professional that needs a phone to keep up with their hectic life. It is a great product and I highly recommend it if you are considering it. I rate it a 4.5 out of 5, but am rounding up to a 5.
