Presenting the revolutionary Creative NOMAD® MuVo , our unique, ultra-compact, 2-piece hybrid player. NOMAD MuVo offers fantastic sound quality as an MP3 player and unparalleled versatility as a data storage device. It's based on a finger-sized 64MB MuVo Memory module that can store data files or approximately 15 MP3 tracks. The memory module snaps into a custom battery pack to form the Creative MuVo player, which is about the size of a cigarette lighter and gives up to 12 hours of continuous play on just one battery. It's so easy to use, you don't even need cables or software*! NOMAD MuVo delivers huge value in such a tiny package Minimize

Ravishingly Mediocre

Author's Rating: 3/5 stars

Pros: size, sound quality, double usage model

Cons: flimsy, bizarre memory structure

The Bottom Line:
It works for me, but maybe not for you...

Note:

Writing reviews of products is not exactly my forte as I am more of a satirist than a person of substance.

However, since I own this product and I have an opinion, I decided to write this product review in the style of my usual work...

"Ravishingly Mediocre"

So I bought this Creative Labs Muvo a month or so ago
Although I have the 128 mb version, not the 64 mb one
that epinions only has to review

Not only did I have a need for a small portable mp3 player
to complement my modified Nomad Jukebox
I also needed a memory stick to transport files from one computer to another

Now the cool thing about these memory stick things is that if you are running Windows 2K or higher, or the latest Mac OS, is that you don't need to install any software to access these drives

And 128mb is more than enough to transport some files and some mp3 files to go with it.

Do I like the Muvo?
Sort of.

While I've never had any problems with the memory stick portion of the equation, the audio player part has been a royal hassle.

First off, the player plays files in the order you put them on. If you remove a few of these files from the drive while leaving the others, I've noticed that when you try to copy new files, occasionally you'll get an error message that the drive memory is corrupted.

My solution has been to reformat the drive and start over again.

Also, I had to return my first Muvo because it wouldn't power up anymore.
Apparently the memory stick couldn't maintain a connection to the battery portion.
I had to return it in exchange for another.

Theis second one had been returned to the store by an unhappy previous user who's files were still on the drive.

I reformatted the Muvo and loaded it up with my own audio, but weirdly enough, a few of the previous user's files returned again for no reason.

It will only play certain forms of WMA files, but there's no rhyme or reason to what it chooses to play.

It can't play newer audio codecs like mp3pro or future iterations of WMA, and there is no way to upgrade the bios on this product to expand to those formats.

Since most peoples' USB ports are in the back of their machines, it's a pain in the azz to plug the drive in and remove it.

I would suggest getting an extender that reaches around to the front of your computer for easier access.

While the earbud headphones they give you suck, the Muvo sounds awesome through my Grado SR225 headphones.

You don't need a belt clip.
That's what the laniard is for that they give you.

Creative needs to add a little lcd screen so you know what files you have on the drive and what song is currently playing.

I like my Muvo, but it is kind of a pain to maintain.
If you are computer savvy like me, give it a whirl.

If you are not, don't.
